    Dear fellow scientists,

Phase II of the Alpine Fault – Deep Fault Drilling Project (DFDP), during which we will core New Zealand’s Alpine Fault at 1.3 km depth, will be undertaken from 15 Sept-15 Dec 2014. We have a fairly short time in which to finalise plans for our operations. Through applications for participation we would like to document expertise and skills of existing collaborators and invite new collaborators to formalise a Science Team.

We will hold a meeting to review outcomes from DFDP-1 (2011) and plan DFDP-2 from 7-11 April 2014 in Wellington. A schedule for the meeting is attached and pasted below. At this meeting we will finalise our Science Implementation Policy and we request that existing and new collaborators attend or be represented.

If you would like to be a part of this phase of drilling, please review the draft Science Implementation Plan (attached and available at:DFDP-2_SIP_2Mar2014_RM_VT.doc ), submit an application for participation (attached and available at: DFDP-2 Science Team Application Template 2 Mar 2014.doc), and plan to attend the April meeting.

    Kind regards,
The DFDP PIs, Rupert Sutherland, John Townend and Virginia Toy
